September 18, 2021: Participation in the welcoming ceremony of the delegation of Slovak Paralympians
2021/12/8
On Saturday, September 18, I got the invitation of the Slovak Paralympic Committee to welcome the Slovak Paralympians, who participated in SPG Tokyo 2020. A nice event took place in the famous spa town of Piešťany. At the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Slovakia achieved great results and boasts 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals. Like the SPG in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, the Tokyo Games have become very important for Slovakia. Compared to the London 2012 games, where the Paralympians won 7 medals, the 11-medal gain on the last two games was a big leap.
At the ceremony, SPC President Mr. Ján Riapoš expressed his sincere thanks to the host country, Japan, which organized the games despite the difficult pandemic situation and strict measures, and successfully completed the entire set schedule. I received a letter of thanks from his hands.
After the introductory official part, a new plaque with the names of all medalists from the SPG in Tokyo was presented on the Walk of Fame on the Spa Island. Together with Chairman of the SPC Mr. Ján Riapoš, the Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Eduard Heger cut the ribbon. I sincerely believe in the development of parasport in Slovakia and wishes further success to all Slovak parasportsmen.
