November 11, 2021: Meeting with JUDr. Metod Špaček, Ph.D., Head of the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic
2021/12/8

On November 12, I visited the Presidential Palace and met with Mr. Met. Špaček, Head of the Office of the President of the Slovak Republic.
Mr. Špaček is an expert in international law and for many years he worked as the Director of the Department of International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic and as a teacher for international law at the renowned Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava. I will not exaggerate when I say that President Zuzana Čaputová, who is a lawyer herself involved in environmental issues, has a professionally strong legal team in her Office.
I had the opportunity to stay in a longer conversation with Mr. Špaček. He is a man, a lawyer, who speaks in a calm voice and chooses the right words judiciously. We talked about the current situation in which, with the further rapid spread of the coronavirus pandemic, it is necessary to give the highest possible priority to safety and protection of human lives and health, but also to think about the long-term problems of Slovakia, a young 30-year-old country still in the process of development. It was a very interesting and stimulating discussion.
