August 29, 2021: Ambassador Nakagawa took part at the National celebrations of the 77th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica

On August 29, I attended the National celebrations of the 77th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica, and placed a wreath to the monument located at the complex of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) Museum in Banská Bystrica, Central Slovakia.
The commemorative ceremony in Banská Bystrica, where the Slovak National Uprising began, is the most important commemorative event, which is regularly attended by state and social life leaders, including the three most important constitutional representatives (President of the SR, Chairman of the National Council and Prime Minister). Although the number of visitors to this year´s celebrations was limited due to pandemic measures, this did not prevent the direct participants of the uprising, who are already more than 90 years old to join. These people, who fought in the Slovak National Uprising, are the living memory of the nation and are extremely important for democracy and preservation of the Slovak National Uprising's message. It was a strong, emotional celebration, including a speech on conjunction of the spirit of the nation with the younger generation of Slovakia.
