June 17, 2021: Meeting with the European Union´s Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Mr. Miroslav Lajčák
2021/12/9
On 17 June, I invited the European Union´s Special Representative for the Western Balkans for lunch. We exchanged views on issues of the Western Balkans' accession to the EU, "V4 + Japan" cooperation and the domestic political situation in Slovakia. Mr. Lajčák, who usually resides in Brussels, arrived in Bratislava to attend the Globsec conference.
Mr. Miroslav Lajčák served from 1994 to 1998 as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Japan and later visited Japan as the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. He served as Minister until the last spring and was a great contribution to deepening mutual friendship between our countries. We are grateful that he accepted the invitation and devoted his precious time to a stimulating discussion, despite the busy schedule during his short "return home", to Bratislava.
